Nuclear
Parts Center Promotes
E-Commerce Expansion
Throughout the energy industry, utilities are seeking innovative
ways to streamline business processes by tapping the power of
E-Commerce. Framatome Technologies' Nuclear
Parts Center (NPC) is responding to these emerging customer
needs through the implementation of various Internet-based applications,
all of which provide enhanced customer service and responsiveness,
while improving communications.
The NPC operates
a website called "Customer
Inquiry System" (CIS) to facilitate the purchase or inventory
inquiry of NPC-stocked valves, parts, motors, and actuators on
a 24/7 basis. Product lines listed on the website include Limitorque,
Velan, Yarway, and ASCO, with other lines planned. The CIS website
provides detailed information regarding OEM part numbers, quantity
available, and cost of items currently held in the NPC inventory.
While the CIS has been utilized for on-line purchases by pre-qualified
customers, its integrated database offers particular value by
providing timely information which allows utility buyers and planners
to make strategic decisions regarding reduction or justification
of plant-maintained inventories.
In another
E-Commerce initiative, FTG's Nuclear Parts Center is assisting
Entergy Nuclear Generation
Company's Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in its implementation
of the PECOS Internet Procurement Manager. PECOS is a remotely-hosted,
automated procurement management system provided by Elcom.com,
Inc. The NPC is providing detailed safety and non-safety related
product listings for Limitorque parts and motors, ASCO Hydramotor
parts and ASCO Solenoid valves. Pilgrim Station is using the PECOS
system to automate the purchasing process for much of its Maintenace,
Repair, and Operations (MRO), and industrial supplies.
